SUED has for the past few years, partnered with ministry of education to provide capacity building workshops for teachers in the rural schools in Nakuru and Kericho County. The project has seen teachers build up to be role models to the students. Apart from the course work the teachers now act as change agents in upholding moral values and positive behavior changes. Moreover, the program also has been identified by the ministry of education as a program that is positively impacting the lives of teachers. As a results, the training certificates offered by SUED are recognized as a tool for teacher’s assessment for appraisal in their careers.
The mission of SUED is to support schools in social development and transform communities through value based education, books, capacity building and approaches on environment and livelihood. Our transformational dream is: To nurture a generation of change makers, with children that are competent and resilient to face challenges, who are reliable global citizens who appreciate values and contribute to a healthy society and a healthy environment.
Our tailor-made program promotes and nurtures values among learners. Values are the foundation for molding the youth and aiding them in adapting to changing circumstance. It promotes tolerance and understanding above and beyond political, cultural and religious differences. It also puts special emphasis on the defense of human rights, the protection of ethnic minorities and the most vulnerable groups and the environment.
Our approach contains activities on four themes that SUED tailors based on the context, challenges and population of the school.
